Participation of the Youth Council of the Municipality of Thermi in the international training seminar of the DYPALL Network in Spain

From 14 to 21 September, we had the honour to participate in the international training seminar of the DYPALL Network entitled “Local Youth Councils for Quality Participation in the Digital Sphere”, held in Molina, Spain, within the framework of the University on Youth and Development (UYD).

The seminar brought together representatives of Local Youth Councils from 14 European countries, with the Youth Council of the Municipality of Thermi being the sole representative from Greece.

Throughout the week, we exchanged experiences, explored new methodologies and gained practical tools on how to strengthen young people’s participation in Local Youth Councils. Through interactive sessions, experiential exercises and collaborative workshops, we worked on new ideas on how Youth Councils can become more inclusive, participatory and resilient in the digital era.

The University on Youth and Development is one of the most important international youth events and this year brought together more than 250 participants from 8 organisations, addressing themes such as digital safety, shaping a more ethical digital world and promoting intercultural dialogue.

For us, this participation was a valuable empowerment experience, as well as a unique opportunity to transfer good practices and knowledge that will help us contribute more meaningfully to the participation of young people of the Municipality of Thermi in decision-making processes.

Our Council had the honour to participate in the European programme BeCom in Romania, focusing on a case study for the transformation of a building in Baiut into a green building.

Καθ’ όλη τη διάρκεια της εβδομάδας ανταλλάξαμε εμπειρίες, γνωρίσαμε νέες μεθοδολογίες και αποκτήσαμε πρακτικά εργαλεία για το πώς μπορούμε να ενισχύσουμε τη συμμετοχή των νέων στα Τοπικά Συμβούλια. Μέσα από διαδραστικές συνεδρίες, βιωματικές ασκήσεις και συνεργατικά εργαστήρια, δουλέψαμε πάνω σε νέες ιδέες για το πώς τα Συμβούλια Νέων μπορούν να γίνουν πιο συμπεριληπτικά, συμμετοχικά και ανθεκτικά στην ψηφιακή εποχή.

Το University on Youth and Development είναι μία από τις σημαντικότερες διεθνείς διοργανώσεις για τη νεολαία και φέτος συγκέντρωσε πάνω από 250 συμμετέχοντες από 8 οργανισμούς, με θεματικές όπως η ψηφιακή ασφάλεια, η διαμόρφωση ενός πιο ηθικού ψηφιακού κόσμου και η προώθηση του διαπολιτισμικού διαλόγου.

Για εμάς, η συμμετοχή αυτή ήταν μια σπουδαία εμπειρία ενδυνάμωσης, αλλά και μια μοναδική ευκαιρία να μεταφέρουμε καλές πρακτικές και γνώσεις που θα μας βοηθήσουν να συμβάλλουμε πιο ουσιαστικά στη συμμετοχή της νεολαίας του Δήμου Θέρμης στη λήψη αποφάσεων.
