Transfer of knowledge and experience to Agios Efstratios: One step closer to local communities with equality
August 4, 2025On Wednesday, 18 June, our Council, in collaboration with the Deputy Mayor’s Office for Education, Youth, Lifelong Learning and Employment, held an information event titled:
“Cities4Her: Integrating the Gender Perspective into Local Governance” at the Municipal Council Hall in the Trilofos Community Building.
The event was organized within the framework of the European project Cities4Her, coordinated by EETAA, which aims to strengthen gender equality in local policies by enhancing the active participation of young people.
The event opened with short greetings from Athina Papadaki, President of the Municipal Council, and Stelios Apostolou, Deputy Mayor for Education, Youth, Lifelong Learning and Employment.
This was followed by a presentation from Elissavet Velona, Deputy Councillor for Youth Affairs, who highlighted the essence and importance of the project.
Chrysi Klimatsouda, Head of the Directorate of Education, Youth, Lifelong Learning and Employment, presented the project and its implementation progress in the Municipality of Thermi.
Members of our Council then shared their personal experiences and the actions they participated in, emphasizing the importance of youth involvement in shaping gender-responsive policies.
The event also included online contributions from EETAA representatives Georgia Gonou and Elli Christoula, who analyzed the European dimension of the project and its overall progress so far.
Beyond raising awareness on equality issues, an outcome of the event was the exploration of the possibility of establishing a meaningful connection between young people and the Municipality’s institutional bodies, such as the Municipal Equality Committee, in order to make full use of the knowledge and experience gained through the Cities4Her project
